I touched it with my thumb, feeling my body shiver as I ran it over the back of his hand, feeling it warm.

“Are we really going to end?” he asked softly, looking at the touch.

I moved a little closer, making our shoulders touch.

“I’m sorry…”

“I just want to hear it from your mouth,” he continued in the same tone. “If that’s what it is, it’s okay. I won’t insist anymore. I won’t wait for you anymore, and I won’t hate you either. I just want to hear you, Jae…”

I lowered my head, feeling a lump in my throat, feeling it dry, while also feeling my world crumbling.

“I can’t,” I said, almost inaudibly, letting, once again, my shame break through and my tears flow without permission and in front of Harin.
