When I pulled into the garage, go out, and went inside, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Lynn’s soft voice coming from the backyard. I was happy that she was still here and I knew that I should make my presence known, but I also wanted to eavesdrop on their conversation.

I set Dakota’s meds on the counter and quietly made my way into the dining room where I could hide behind the curtains and hear them better.

“You don’t have to live like that, Dakota,” Lynn stated.

“It’s hard to leave. I’ve tried in the past but Lex won’t let me go.”
