Chapter 23. Helping a Friend
Zion’s birthday, which felt as if it was so far away, was now a few days away. And so even as they prepared for the full moon, they also prepared for the big 7, as Zion loved to call it. Zera anticipated the day, and who better to help her plan than Diya? She was, after all, Zion’s godmother.
It had been a while since Diya and Zera had done this: go out together and talk about random things while shopping together. Diya, who had taken a step back after birthing the twins, wanted to return to work after a year and a month. She had reapplied to the CEO desk about the position she once filled, but her manager told her the position had been given to another.
She told her the only way to get it back was to sign an agreement with the company promising to not have another child for at least another five years. Failure to comply with this agreement would result in a lawsuit from her company.
