Navigating between two bushes, sharp branches jabbed at me, one snagging my shirt. Carefully extracting myself without damage, I broke off the offending branch with precision, an act symbolizing my desire to retaliate against those who inflicted pain. While verbal taunts were bearable, the physical torment compounded with the struggles at home pushed me to my limit.
Fatigue weighed heavily on me; I longed for relief. As I navigated the narrow passage between the bushes, thoughts of Leonard, my companion, stirred within me. Should I take him with me? Could he have a better life without me, free from the turmoil of our current existence? The uncertainty of his safety gnawed at me, uncertain of what the future held for him in my absence.
