After that, everything went dark for me. The next moment I was aware of, I found myself regaining consciousness in my bed at the base.
Xavier sat on the edge beside me, holding my hand. His face was etched with concern and a hint of fear. Steve and Leonard lounged in chairs they had dragged into the room.
I strained to remember what had happened and could only come up with a vague recollection of Xavier yelling for help amid the chaotic shuffling of feet. He had been in a near-hysterical panic, a sound I had never witnessed before.
Steve and Leonard had shown signs of distress as well, but nothing compared to Xavier's hysteria, and that was all I could grasp. I shifted my hand in his.
