He dropped Jessica into the back seat of the car and closed the door gently. He entered the driver's seat and started the engine. First, he needed to know she was safe, so he was going to go to the hospital.

“Xavier,” she said softly as she tried to steady herself from the scare she got.

Xavier stared at her through the rearview mirror as she lay in her seat, her eyes blinking rapidly.

“I am sorry,” she continued when he did not respond. “And thank you.”

“What are you sorry for?” he asked as his hands gripped the steering wheel. He was barely trying his best to control the anger that surged through his whole body.

“For putting you in this situation, you wouldn’t be here if not for my aunt.”
