Chapter 19
“I… I’m sorry. I tend to overreact. I’ll try to change, but it’s been difficult,” Grace explained. She was apologizing, and Adam couldn’t quite grasp what she was trying to convey. Her words perplexed him.
At that moment, he heard approaching footsteps. The door wasn’t locked and was slightly ajar, allowing the sound to reach him. He wouldn’t have heard them otherwise, given that the room was soundproof. Without a word, he pulled her into his embrace, causing her to shudder briefly.
“You…” she started to say, but he silenced her by placing his index finger on her lips.
“Baby, why do you keep talking nonstop? How about you take a rest for a while?” he suggested, his tone gentle and caring.
He gestured for her to look toward the doorway, and she spotted the shadow lurking outside, covertly observing their actions. It was an audacious intrusion of their privacy.
Instead of removing his index finger, he pressed his lips against it as if sealing their secret
