Chapter 108
The aroma of freshly baked cake filled the farmhouse kitchen as Ayleen leaned over the counter, carefully spreading frosting on the golden layers. A small smile played on her lips, a rare moment of contentment as she tried to occupy her mind.
After yesterday’s ordeal, Ayleen had been so shaken that she clung to Murat for most of the night. She barely remembered how she fell asleep but vividly recalled waking up practically plastered against him. Mortified, she decided to keep her distance today.
From the kitchen, she could see Murat pacing in the living room. His brows were furrowed, his jaw set tight as he barked orders into his phone. Finally, he flopped onto the sofa, running a frustrated hand through his hair.
Ayleen bit her lip, watching him from the corner of her eye. Uncle Ibrahim had ensured there was no alcohol in the farmhouse. For an addict like Murat, this must have been torment. She didn’t know whether to laugh at his predicament or feel sorry for him.
