Chapter 119
The heavens seemed to echo her regret as another crack of thunder illuminated the deserted road. Tears brimmed in her eyes, mixing with the rain cascading down her cheeks. She felt utterly helpless, cursing her situation and her own recklessness.
Suddenly, the screeching sound of tires tore through the night, freezing her in place. Her heart leapt to her throat as she stared at the source of the noise, her body stiff with dread. But relief surged through her when the familiar black Range Rover came into view, its headlights piercing the gloom.
The door swung open, and out stepped Murat, his expression thunderous yet tinged with palpable relief. His hair was damp from the rain, and his disheveled appearance screamed of someone who had been frantically searching. Without a word, he shrugged off his coat and draped it over her trembling shoulders.
“What the hell were you thinking, standing under a tree in this weather?” he demanded, his voice cutting through the storm
