Chapter 157
Ayleen had just finished her rounds at the hospital and was jotting down some notes when a nurse approached her, looking slightly hesitant.
“Dr. Ayleen, someone is waiting for you in the waiting room,” she said softly.
Ayleen frowned, her pen pausing mid-air. “Who is it?”
“He didn’t say his name, but he’s been waiting for some time. Should I tell him you’re busy?” the nurse offered.
Ayleen let out a sigh. “No, it’s fine. I’ll go.”
Ayleen sighed. Her nerves were already frayed, and she wasn’t in the mood for surprises. Rising from her seat, she followed the nurse to the adjoining waiting area.
The waiting room buzzed with the low hum of conversations and the occasional cry of a child.
