“Murat, let him go!” Berat’s voice rang out, and within seconds, he was pulling him back, wrapping his arms around Murat’s chest to restrain him.
“She’s alive!” Murat roared, still trying to lunge forward, his breath ragged, his vision blurring with fury and despair. “Do you hear me? She’s alive!”
The officer staggered backward, rubbing his throat as he straightened his collar, a flash of unease flickering across his face.
“We’re sorry, Mr. Khan,” the senior officer interjected, trying to diffuse the tension. “But we have to consider all possibilities. In a case like this, we can’t rule anything out.”
Murat’s chest rose and fell erratically, his entire frame quivering with restrained rage.
Ibrahim Khan finally spoke, his voice weary but steady. “You’re right, Officer. Do whatever you need to do. Search everywhere. But bring my daughter-in-law back.”
The officers nodded, their faces somber.
