Chapter 99. Pour Your Heart to Me

To be honest, I believed that Edison didn’t need the help of Jonas and his vampires that day when we helped him escape from the manor guards. He could fight all those men all by himself, using his bare hands. But knowing that they were still his people, he chose not to retaliate with Ralph’s schemes and just went on with it. He was betrayed and fooled and the council took advantage of his weakness.

I frowned because he sounded a little bit ridiculous to me. "What are you talking about? You mean... you have been watching me all this time at the Rutherford Manor?" I couldn't suppress the smile that was escaping from my lips. The thought made me happy because I had never seen him look at me before the way he was telling me how he felt about me at that time.

"Stop your teasing," he gently scolded me and pinched me on the tip of my nose, making me giggle, and he continued, "I mean, who won't look at you, Claire? You have no idea how my men fancy you. Now I realize why Ralph d
