Liam’s tone alone set my wolf on edge.
“Anastasia is not going to school today,” he said the moment he stepped inside, his eyes dark and unreadable.
The words hit me like a stone. I looked up from where I was sorting through the errands for the pack house, frowning. “Why?”
He didn’t answer right away. He just stripped off his jacket and loosened his tie, the weight of something he wasn’t saying hanging between us. His silence was heavier than his tone. He poured himself a glass of whiskey, the amber liquid catching the light, but he didn’t answer.
“Liam,” I pressed, stepping closer, “she needs her school. It’s not just classes, it’s the only place she feels normal. You can’t keep her locked away. That’s not fair to her. She is just a child. She deserves a chance of normality, she deserves a chance to live her life. I don't want her to keep being locked away, she's already been through so much.”
