Chapter 21. The Killer

Celeste’s POV

It was extremely concerning now. I hadn’t heard from Liam in days, this was unlike him.

There were periods where he hadn’t needed my company, but he still always remained in constant contact regardless. Maybe he was taking a break from everything, but I expected him to tell me first.

I had just finished my shift at the Burger joint I waited tables at, my stomach rumbled as I pulled my apron off, so instead of leaving straight away I took a table and ordered myself some food.

Snacking on my fries, they seemed to taste better than usual today. Leaving my mouth dry from the salt I took a big gulp of my soda, just browsing my phone as I caught up on social media. My phone began to buzz as I received a call from Nathaniel. With a long exhale I kept my eyes on the screen, my finger hovering over the ‘end call’ symbol.

Feeling a pang of guilt I decided to answer my brother “Hey, everything okay?”
