Chapter 57. Escape

Celeste’s POV

It wasn’t often I remembered my dreams, but usually when I did recall them, it was always the bad ones. Tonight was a particularly horrific nightmare.

I dreamt about the night I found out my Mother had died, and how painful my heart hurt. Even as a child I knew I shouldn’t be having to experience those feelings.

Then my dream switched to the day, a mere few months later when my Father introduced me to his new wife, Evelyn. I had known from the very beginning she despised me. She treated me completely differently than her own two children, they experienced her love and affection, where I was exposed to Evelyn’s cruel and cold side.

My memories then shifted to the orphanage I had come to live in for the rest of my youth. The hatred the other children threw at me, and I could never understand why. Perhaps it was because I never stood up for myself, I allowed them to walk all over me and took their abuse.
