The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange hinge to the sky as a black jaguar drove steadily on the dirt road. Kai was seated at the drivers seat, eyes fixed on the road. He was driving like he always does whenever he was with the Alpha. At the back, Lucious had his head on the headrest, eyes closed and mind somewhere far away.

His thoughts had drifted off to his mate. The image of her shivering as she waited for him that night at the blood lake was something he couldn’t get out of his mind.
