Mia POV

“If you won’t tell me anything, then I’m going to go find out for myself” I began to sit up but Lukas stopped me.

“He’s still alive”

My eyes lit up with hope. “He? It’s a boy?”

Lukas nodded but his next words shattered me completely. “He’s alive but we don’t know for how long”

“What do you mean?”

“He was born way before the due date and is currently in the incubator. We don’t know if he’ll make it”

Kate entered, donned in a blue scrub, her hair tied up in a bun.

“Thank goodness you’re awake” she placed her stethoscope over my chest and wrote something on my charts.

“Lukas said the baby might not live. Is that true?”

“His vitals are becoming stable. I think he’ll pull through. I can tell he’s a strong boy, just like his dad” Kate shot Lukas a look.

“Can I see him?”

“Sure. But you can’t touch him due to his critical condition”
