Mia POV

I had just settled on the couch when my phone rang. Kate’s name flashed across the screen.

All I heard was soft, uneven breathing.

“Kate? Are you alright?”

“Mia” her voice came out breathless.

I shot to my feet.

“Kate! Talk to me. What’s wrong?”

“The pup is coming” she let out a painful groan. “Please come quickly”

I grabbed my coat and rushed out, dialing Micheal’s number as I drove. It went straight to voicemail.

“Hey, It’s Mia. I wanted to let you know that Kate is in labor and I’m on my way to her apartment. Call me when you get this”
