Mia POV

“You should have seen Lukas’ face when I told him I met with Nathan. He looked like he wanted to strangle me” I said to Kate who was only half listening as she gently rocked whimpering Cedric.

“I think he’s right. You can’t just take Nathan’s word for it. He could be lying”

“What if he’s not?”

Kate finally looked up at me. “Lying or not, stay away from him. What’s your deal with this guy anyway?”

I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and released a deep sigh.

“I feel guilty”

Kate scoffed. “About what?”

“Nathan’s life was destroyed when his company collapses and it was all Lukas’ doing. I think he also has a hand in his restaurant’s fire. I feel like I owe him”

Kate raised a brow, incredulous. “Owe him? Grant group collapsed because they deserved it. They ran several illegal organizations I can’t begin to mention. I know Lukas can be a dick sometimes, but he wouldn’t stoop so low as to burn his restaurant down”
