Kate POV

I paced back and forth in Lukas’ study, biting my lips. Several days had passed since Micheal left and I couldn’t shake off the bad feeling.

“Kate, he called me yesterday, he’s fine,” Lukas said, his voice calm and measured.

“Why hasn’t he called today?”

Before Lukas could answer, his phone buzzed on the desk, Michael’s name flashed on the screen.

He took the call and instantly his expression darkened, his jaw ticked and his fingers gripped the phone tightly.

My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach and I sunk into the chair.
