Katarina's POV

The rhythms of my heart quicken and I gawk up at Xerxes with wide down eyes for he stood in front of me with his arms crossed across his chest. I no longer could see my mate in him, yet the Alpha everyone feared. Eyes narrowed on me and his tall frame towering over my petite one.

His beta stood behind him with a look of panic on his face.

“P-pardon?” I stuttered blinking my eyes in disbelief. He did not-he could not just-

“You’ll fight Damien. I wanna see how much you learned from these lessons.”

Ever since Xerxes had been giving me his lessons, I was now feeling stronger and more confident. But fighting Damien, one of the best warriors of his pack, I was not capable.
