‘She has been trained in private by my father and spared with him. She’ll kick your ass before you know what she is doing.’ I say back proudly. Jamie just shakes his head with a doubtful look in his eyes. Zane also looks concerned.

They decided to run with us, which Selena was fine with.

If she noticed their comments or questions at a slower pace for her, she ignored them. She kept up with us with ease as we ran through the woods.

When we reached my aunt’s burned down place the guys both leaned on a tree to catch their breath. They might run in morning training, but Selena is used to running in the forest.

I also had to lean on my knees while my mate just walked slowly toward the burned remains of the cottage. When I got my breathing under control, I walked up to her and wrapped her in my arms.

“This is not your fault, babe,” I tell, leaning her against me for support. I can feel the distressing emotions through our bond.
