Chapter 20
Dana’s POV
To me, it seemed like we had been journeying for days already. My legs were cramped, and I felt like my body would soon give in to the exhaustion I was feeling. I admired my big sister, who did not seem tired at all. She kept walking with so much vigor I wondered at her strength. I would miss her; she had always been the one to keep me going.
I wanted to ask Raya how much more we have until we get to this old woman named Tamar when I see bright lights from afar. No one had to tell me that we were almost in the city. My stomach gave an appreciative rumble at the sight of the lights. I had a big appetite, and I couldn’t help it. I continued following Dana until we reached what I believed to be the border of the city because I could spot guards patrolling the place.
“Remember, we are visiting as pilgrims,” Raya reminded me.
