I couldn’t breathe. Not in the way a man takes shallow gasps after running. This was worse. Like the oxygen had been sucked out of my body and left me standing in a void of silence and panic. Elvira. Brielle. Callan.

My fingers dug into the edge of the conference table as I leaned over it, jaw locked, trying to make sense of the reports flooding in.
