Jaxon POV

The moonlight casted silver over the glass ceiling of the council chamber, but it felt more like a spotlight, like an accusation aimed directly at me.

They were all watching, waiting for me to say something. Just like Kairo had said, the news of Elvira, Callan and Brielle missing had leaked, and it was exactly 24 hours after.

Ronan stood beside me, silent, tense, tapping his foot continuously. Celina’s arms were folded, her jaw locked tight. Kale looked cranky as hell. The rest of the council raised eyebrows in suspicion. Even Talon was looking at me differently. Like I was no longer an Alpha, but something cracked, like I was no longer the Jaxon I used to be.

“Where is she?” one councilwoman finally asked, her voice sharp, precise. “The Blood Moon is rising tonight, Alpha Jaxon. Where is your mate?”
