Maeve’s POV
I was already fully dressed when I stepped in front of the tall mirror, the night’s glow filtering in through the chamber’s arched windows. The ball had begun hours ago—guests from distant regions had arrived, and even some Council members were already mingling in the grand hall below.
I studied my reflection: Draven’s choice for me was exquisite. The floor-length mermaid gown shimmered in gold, the corset’s delicate embroidery hugging my waist just so. My white-and-gold masquerade mask, trimmed in filigree, completed the ensemble. I couldn’t help but smile at how beautiful I looked.
The door swung open, and Elysia entered, equally resplendent. Her long black hair cascaded over her shoulders in soft waves.
