Chapter 128. New Alliance

The corners of Saelyna’s lips curved upward ever so slightly, her heart beating wildly with anticipation.

They both hurriedly exited the castle, Saelyna taking point, holding the door open for him as he passed, his pace swift, his eyes darting from left to right, scanning the streets and alleys for threats, any signs that the queen had followed them.

He didn’t stop to look for long, however. Within moments, he was already sprinting down a familiar street, his pace quickening and the ground beneath his feet disappearing.

Saelyna kept up with him as best she could, struggling not to slip every once in awhile as her boots crunched loudly against the snow that covered the cobblestones. Her breath clouded as it escaped her lips, forming tiny trails of smoke, as a cold breeze swept past her skin. She felt cold, especially after the heat of the fire, which she could feel warming her skin even now.

Saelyna stopped, her breathing labored as she gasped desperately for
