Still, I didn’t falter; it wasn’t worth it. All I wanted to do was escape this bizarre situation, and go back home and forget that all of this even happened.
“What?” Garrick growled. “I have no idea what you’re talking about!”
“Please… I need to go back home,” I said softly, shaking my head.
“Do you not understand a word I’m saying? You can trust me.” His tone softened considerably. “We are the same people.”
I shook my head rapidly. I wasn’t the same person.
“Look at me!” he commanded.
It took me a moment to realise what he meant, as he was speaking loudly and I wasn’t accustomed to his volume, but once I realised that he was referring to my eyes.
He looked at me, silently pleading with me with his eyes as his eyebrows rose with confusion. His lips parted a little and he stared straight into my eyes with such intensity that I felt uncomfortable being watched so intensely. However, I ignored my discomfort and continued to stare
