Chapter 14
After that somewhat awkward scene, they finished lunch and cleared the plates. Elizabeth looked out of the window and noticed that the bright sun high in the sky was beginning to give way to an orange sunset, a sign that it was getting late, and she needed to return to Julian and Abayomi. They both must be very tired and hungry, so it was time for her to relieve them.
Maya prepared a basket of food for both of them, also packing a cup of chicken broth for Peter. Elizabeth and Maat prepared to leave, and the basket was quite heavy, but the two of them had enough strength to carry it without any problems.
They made the journey to the tent for the second time that day, although it took longer this time due to the extra weight. They arrived just as the sun had stopped shining, and twilight covered the sky. They were tired and sweaty, still a bit dazed from lunch.
