Chapter 43
Before she could even analyze what she was thinking, Elizabeth raised the hidden pistol and aimed it upwards between the man's eyebrows. Tears slightly blurred her vision, but she still knew exactly where she was placing the barrel. Julian's lifeless body lay to the side of her, so nothing mattered to her anymore; she had never thought of taking someone's life, but she could rewrite that concept.
"Enough nonsense. You're not capable of pulling the trigger," the man hissed. Elizabeth had to give him credit for his bravery in responding when it only took a flick of her hand to send him to the other world. That, or he was just plain stupid.
It was probably the latter.
"Prove me wrong," Elizabeth challenged. The sound of the safety being removed made him take a step back. Elizabeth couldn't help but feel a satisfying warmth filling her. She had been right not to underestimate her.
