Chapter 42
Julián and Elizabeth turned to back back to back. The raven-haired woman swept the surroundings with her gaze, she was at an absolute disadvantage because while her enemies pointed high-caliber rifles at her, she was unarmed. Out of the corner of her eye she saw how Julián raised his arm and pointed his own pistol directly at the head of one of the hooded men; Elizabeth could not see it, but she assumed that he had his jaw tense as he used to do when he got angry.
At that moment she remembered that the brown-haired man had entered alone, without any type of company; Elizabeth frowned and tried to speak in a low voice so that no one could hear her. The sound was almost a murmur that she would not have been able to understand had she not been the one speaking. The words came out jumbled, but she could tell by the pressure on Julián's back that he had understood them perfectly.
