Chapter 18. You, First

I went back to our room to give the breakfast and eat it with Ashlene. Her back was facing the door when I entered, her legs lifted up and hugging a bolster. She fell asleep again, but there was a frown on her face. Perhaps it was the uncomfortable feeling of the hangover, the spinning of her vision, and the unexplainable feeling of drunkenness.
I didn’t know what she had arranged for the day, but I had to go to work. There was this important client Anton and I needed to meet up before the trial ensued.
“Ash… good morning. Here, I brought your breakfast.”
She stirred in her sleep, and one of her eyes opened. Then followed by the other one. She looked at the tray of food I placed at the side table.
“Do you have some hot soup?”
I nodded. She sat up and held her forehead. Perhaps it was really hurting.
“Here, let’s have our breakfast first. Then you can rest the whole day. Do you have somewhere to be today?”
