Chapter 15. The Alpha

Madeline's POV

I went through a forest that is so vast I could compare it to a huge ocean. The trees were tall and thick, their branches sticking out every path I pass by. It was so silent that I could hear the bats --- yes, bats, instead of birds --- having their circling groups above me. But just like I said, I am not easily afraid and have confronted many dangerous things in my life. 

Being afraid is the last thing I would do.

The leaves rustled with every step I go on. Suddenly, I stopped, due to a motion that I felt behind me.

"Who is that?" I demanded and turned around to see my surroundings.

The wind whistled in my ear as I continuously hear the rustling of the leaves. This time, it is not about my shoes that I am not moving right now. Someone is following me. I slowly crept into my sheath behind my cloak so I could touch the hold of my dagger. I squinted my eyes when I felt someone reveal himself behind me.
