I took a deep breath as I entered the restaurant where my friends and I were supposed to meet. Controlling my emotions and appearing confident proved to be more challenging than I had anticipated, and I struggled to suppress my nervousness.
It may seem strange to feel anxious about meeting friends, but the truth is, the people I was about to encounter were far from what I would consider true friends. I preferred to think of them as enemies in disguise.
