“Wait… where’s Elliot?” Prince Ludiciel suddenly inquired.
The square fell silent and Ron’s heart dropped to his stomach. His mouth opened, but no sound came out for he didn't even know what to say. How could he tell Ludiciel that Elliot—and so many others—were gone? That they weren’t coming back?
Alaric stepped forward, his expression grim. “Some didn’t make it, Ludiciel.” He said, his voice quiet but heavy. “Dareth killed them all.”
Prince Ludiciel went still. His silver hair fluttered in the soft breeze as the words sank in. "No…” He shook his head slowly, his voice breaking. “No, no, that's not true.” It couldn't be true.
His eyes darted around wildly as he began to move through the crowd, calling Elliot’s name in disbelief. There was no way he was dead. He didn't believe it. How could Elliot leave him?
