Chapter 13. Jinxed Parties
“Hey, watch it,” Kolade yelled and jumped back when the drink splashed onto his shoes. I ignored him as I stared at the face in the distance. He stood by the door and surveyed the room like he owned the place. Two formidable guys stood on either side of him; their eyes scanned the room. I froze when his gaze drifted past me, only to clash a few moments later.
“I have to go and clean this up,” Kolade grumbled as he walked away. Right then, I nearly begged for him to remain where he was, for him not to leave me alone, especially not when he was here. What was he doing there? Why did he have to ruin everything all over again by showing up? I felt a familiar bubble of panic and anger as he walked across the room. He stalked towards me with purpose, like a cat hunting its prey; his eyes glinted with mischief and wicked intent. I could not remember what I saw in them or how I once thought he was incredible and charming. He stopped before me and leaned down to whisper the words
