Chapter 9
I was packing when Chris came in. He looked mad. But again, I expected that. With his tone over the phone, if he had entered smiling, I would have thought he was coming to end my life.
“What do you mean by you’re moving in with Reeves?” he asked as soon as he got in.
I looked at my clothes wearily and decided that I had too much work to stop now. “Hey to you too, Chris,” I said.
“Answer my question, Kayla.”
“Just what I said, Chris. I’m moving in with him. I know-”
“You don’t know shit. You don’t. Else you wouldn’t be sitting here, calmly, telling me you’re moving in with Roman Reeves.”
“Chris, it’s not like that. It’s not how you think.” I looked down at the clothes, then stood up. At this point, I didn’t think I would be able to do much.
