Chapter 165

The Queen continued, "I have been made aware of the circumstances surrounding your imprisonment, and I am ashamed to say that it's unfair and an unjust treatment."

Mary's eyes narrowed, her disbelief paramount.

"What do you want from me?" she asked warily, her voice laced with distrust. Mary's eyes welled up with tears as she clutched the phone, her mind reeling from the Queen's words. 

An apology? From the Queen herself? It was almost too much to bear. She was afraid of what might be requested of her to regain her freedom.

"Your Majesty, I...I don't know what to say, I'm really grateful for the help you rendered. " 

Mary stuttered, her voice cracking with emotion.

The Queen's voice was filled with sincerity as she spoke to Mary. 

"I am truly sorry, Mary. Sorry for the pain and suffering you've endured. Sorry that my actions, however unintentional, contributed to your imprisonment."

Mary's heart swelled wi
