Chapter 23. Megan Has Found a New Mate!

“How does that make you feel?” The Shaman continued to ask. 

“I feel empty, incomplete and useless.” Jake started breaking into tears. 

The Shaman signed as sadness and dread sipped into his heart. This was real trouble. Trouble that could cost them their lives. He kept his composure because he wasn't one to show distress that easily. 

“Take the d**g I gave you and go to sleep. Everything will be fine.” The Shaman patted Jake on the shoulder before turning to leave the room. Neither Jake nor his father were stupid. Something had happened, and the Shaman wasn't going to say it. At least not in front of Jake. 

Jake signed and went to do as he was told because Ruby had started acting up again. If he lost control of Ruby again, his father would look down on him more. The man might even punish him. What is a werewolf that can't control his wolf?

He already saw that look in his father's eyes, and he didn't like it.
