Chapter 48. The Closest Thing to a Family
Hannah’s POV
I thought about it for days. They’ve been more than good to me. Moving in with them would be a blessing. It would reduce my stress and, in general, didn’t seem like a bad idea.
But a part of me wondered how long I would keep depending on the grace of others to eat, to be sheltered, and to survive.
Oliver and Emily kept reassuring me every day that it was totally okay to move in with them. Matt, on the other hand, tried to convince me to do it for his parents.
Finally, I made a decision.
“I’m going to move in,” I said to Matt one day on one of our rides.
He flashed me a smile. “Really? That’s great.”
“On one condition.”
His smile completely vanished. “Seriously?” he asked with a dramatic look.
“Yes.”
“Alright. What condition?”
“I’ll pay rent or contribute in some way. Work extra hours or clean. Anything.”
