Lena’s POV
Earlier that day, I stood at the entrance of the court with Liana, waiting for Caleb to bring the car around. I had requested from Lucas to let Caleb drive her home because I was scared of what happened last time repeating itself.
The divorce was finalized quietly with just signatures, exhausted silence, and a clean break that didn’t feel clean at all. Ian had regret written all over his face but it was obvious Liana didn’t want anything to do with him anymore. I couldn’t blame her because if I were in her shoes, I wouldn’t want anything to do with him either.
Liana hugged me longer than usual before getting into the car, her arms trembling slightly.
“Call me when you get there,” I told her, forcing a smile as I tried not to cry.
“I will,” she replied. “Thank you… for everything.” She got into the car and Caleb drove off.
