“What is it?” I asked as my heart began to bear faster.

He sighed. “The real reason why i agreed to the marriage contract with you was because I’m destined not to have a fated mate.”

I froze on my seat as I stared at him dumbfounded. When I recovered from my shock, I blinked and chuckled lightly. “Is that even possible? You’re an Alpha, how can you not have a mate? Are you pulling my legs right now?”

“It’s true,” he said without any ounce of mischief on his face. “I found out after I took on the responsibility as an Alpha. I thought the old woman was joking but I later realised that she wasn’t.”

My mouth opened and closed like a fish as I looked for the right words to say. “Did you tell anyone?”

“I kept it to myself all this while but I was forced to tell Micheal because of the current situation,” he explained. “You are the second person I’m telling.”

I leaned back into my seat and took a deep breath. “It is so complicated.
