Chapter 79. Trying to Make Things Right

Ian’s POV

Liana was already asleep when I got out of the shower. I laid next to her and fiddled with her hair as I watched her chest rise and fall in a perfect rhythm. Her face was calm but frail compared to the very first time I saw her.

It was as if the spark she possessed at that time had completely gone.

‘You have yourself to blame for that,” Jack said in my head. ‘You knew it wasn’t her fault, you just needed someone to blame and she happened to be the easier target.’

My mind went back to the expression on her face when I arrived at Lucas’s house. It was obviously she had been chatting and smiling with her friends because I noticed her smile fading when I walked in.

Does she really hate me that much? Did I break her?
