Chapter 214. Hostage Trade

Louise hastily agreed to get in the van with me. And as we stepped out of her car, I gave the nearest dog a nod.

He remained stiff as a statue, but I knew he got my message.

At the back of the van, the resourceful Louise Auclair made some calls, and in the almost two hours' drive it took us to arrive at the police station, she had manufactured a murder suspect for Samantha.

I said nothing, uncaring and not exactly surprised that she did not turn Dean in.

In fact, I much preferred this. Dean had too many connections to the cops to stay locked up anyway.

Olivia would do a thorough job finishing him off this time.

I waited in the van while Louise went into the police station, accompanied by Tara, who pulled up, and in a stranger’s eyes, they could have been friends.

When Tara texted me a thumbs up sign, I heaved a sigh of relief. I waited till Louise returned and when she said, “I hope I never see your ugly face again, take me home.”
