Chapter 24. He Cannot Move In
Dean was awfully quiet, and Colt seemed more alive than I had ever known him.
He was sitting straight, his body perked up and staring at the window.
He had insisted on driving with us, and although I did not dare steal any more glances at him, I wondered if he feared Dean would hit me in the privacy of the car.
I glanced at Dean.
He was quiet and still, but his brows were furrowed, and he looked like he was in deep thoughts.
I looked away, almost certain he was looking for clues about whether this was the truth.
I tried to mentally follow all the footprints.
Colt’s and I’s irrational assumed hatred of one another, our confrontation at the groom’s chamber, the priest’s office, and just yesterday when Dean smelled my perfume in his bedroom.
Our car arrived at the Fletcher house all too quickly, and I looked up at my new home with dread.
