Ava’s POV

The moment I opened my eyes, everything came rushing back at me like a gust of wind.

“Where is Sophie?” I whispered.

Flame burned my temples, but I didn’t even notice. My heart was pounding as I pulled on the IV in my hand.

A nurse rushed inside the room and she placed her hand on my shoulder, forcing me down. “Ma’am, please calm down.”

“I can’t, not until I see my daughter,” I cried, my voice trembling. “Sophie. Where is she? Is she okay? Please tell me she’s okay.”

“She’s in surgery,” the nurse said, still grasping my arm. “They just took her in an hour ago. She was internally hemorrhaged, but the doctors are doing everything they can to try to save her.”

My gut dropped. “Oh my God.”

“She’s going to be okay. And she’s got an angel watching over her.” The nurse smiled at me, softly, quietly. “Mr. Anderson gave blood. It was a perfect match. She’s getting the transfusion now.”
