Chapter 14

“Where are you taking me now? Another place where we would have to run off immediately a few people notice us?” she asked as they reached the car. His car.

“Would you stop asking all the flimsy questions you are asking?”

“Well, you just reminded me that you are a total stranger, and now I have to know where I am going with a stranger, especially since we will be riding in your car.”

She looked completely innocent as she asked her question and did not expect that he would be angry, but he was. He had to be the most short-tempered person she had seen in a long time.

That did not stop the questions.

“Who is going to drive my car, by the way? I’m not leaving it here, am I?” she asked.

He shook his head. “Get into the damn car and let me have the keys.”

She gave him the keys, watching him keenly as he turned around and walked to her car. He left the keys on it and came back to his car, brought out a placard and a marker, and scribbled on it.
