Chapter 16
Ruth was happy when she got home. Happy and worried. She was not sure why she was worried. She was wondering why her boss had given her the offer over all her colleagues who had been there longer than her. She had barely spent three weeks in London and she already felt on top of the world. She was going to tell her roomie, Whitney, all that had happened at the office once she got home.
When she got home, Whitney had set the table; there was freshly squeezed grape juice and turkey and some bacon. Ruth was salivating by the time she stepped into the house.
“I see you’re doing real good, Whitney,” she said as she sniffed around the table.
Whitney appeared with an apron around her neck. She had her red hair covered and was wiping her hands with a kitchen towel.
“Hello, you’re welcome home, Ruth. How was work?” she asked as she stepped out only long enough to see her. Ruth smiled.
