He sighed and took it.

“All my fiancée said was true,” Jun began, his voice shaky. “The… emmm… fat sister… she… was my ex. We dated, but it didn’t work out. She always spoke badly of her sisters, always said they thought they were better because of their blue eyes and blonde hair. She was so envious… she made a lot of racist jokes while looking like that!”

A wave of disgusted laughter rose from the guests.

It was the cruelest sound I had ever heard. They were laughing at me because of a lie he had just invented.

“I was like, ‘come on’…” Jun continued, gaining a sickening confidence from the crowd’s reaction. “Well, that started our misunderstanding, and we broke up. She claimed she moved on and agreed for us to be together. But last night… she contacted me. She told me if she can’t have me, then Chloe won’t. That she would ruin this engagement party.”

He finally glanced at me, his gaze full of contempt. “I guess it’s working for her. I d
