CHARLOTTE
A broken, helpless sound escaped my lips as my entire body went limp.
He caught me, and his arms wrapped around me, pulling me tightly against his chest.
“I… they…” I tried to speak, but the words were swallowed by sobs. “Everyone… my mother… Zoey… Chloe and Jun… they said…”
“Shhh,” he murmured, his voice felt like a soft rumble against my ear. One hand cradled the back of my head while the other held me securely.
“Shhh… breathe.” He whispered, and I did as he said.
“Now, let’s go to somewhere quiet and more private.” He suggested.
I nodded in agreement.
He didn’t let go of my hand for even a second.
We walked through the long hallway, the white, glittering lights felt too bright, drilling into my skull.
But what scared me most was how my body wouldn’t stop shaking.
My breathing came out uneven, my chest was hurting so badly.
Also my head felt light, almost floaty. And no matter how many times I wiped
